Individual Reflection : Siting

Pre-camp

- This project seems interesting to me as it is about extracting caffeine from drinks which reminds me of the experiments done in secondary 1 during biology lessons. The fastest ball challenge was appealing as it is about physics and I like physics.

- I think that I can learn about different ways to remove caffeine from drinks and what affects the speed of a rolling ball and what is the angle where the ball will be at it’s fastest speed.

First Day

What did I do today

- I went through different steps to remove caffeine from teabags, such as Filtration, Solvent Extraction and Distillation using a rotary evaporator.
- My group found out what is the angle where the ball will travel at its fastest speed.

What did you learn today

- I learnt about the effects of caffeine on human body and how to remove caffeine from beverages
- I learnt that higher gravitational potential energy may not mean a faster speed of the ball

How do you feel about today’s activities

- I felt that today's activities were fun and I felt that i have learnt a lot from the activities.

Second Day

What did you do today

- I found out about the angle where the ball will travel at its fastest speed and what shape drops down a tube of detergent the fastest.

What did you learn today?

- The upthrust, cross-sectional area and the weight of the object affect the speed of the object
- The speed of the object at the top of a point and the bottom of the point is the same

How do you feel about today’s activities

- I think that the activities are very fun and helpful when I learn physics next time.
